Split into three groups for the Taupo weekend, the BMW Race Driver Series category of cars includes driver and Emirates Team New Zealand boss Grant Dalton OBE.
Racing the former Andy Nugent owned M3 in the Open category, Dalton says the racing is a credit to the brand and those part of it.
“I noticed the BMW was such a strong class with so many cars so when I saw an opportunity when the car became available, I jumped right in,” he said.
“Everyone drives really well in the class. I gave a guy a tap yesterday, my mistake and felt bad about it but I haven’t seen any carnage – compared to other classes I’ve raced in. Everyone here is looking after their assets – which is great, it’s great driving.
Finishing second in the Sunday morning reversed grid race, Dalton achieved the same in the Saturday weekend opener.
The weekend racing also includes the 2L and the combined E30/E46 – each with three races.
